We all have them.
What do I mean about resistance? I’m talking about not being able to execute or have something you want because of the fears around something.
For a long time, I would dwell on my fears for days, weeks, or even months until I finally had enough of it and just did it. The funny thing is, once it’s done, there is a lot of relief. Right? You’ve been there too. Then you begin to tell yourself that you could have done it ages ago as it wasn’t that scary after all. There never is any backlash from executing either. Fears are just all created in the head and it’s there for a good 20 seconds until you finally do something about it and then it’s gone.
Wouldn’t it be nice if we could conquer fear instantly rather than dwell on it? Wouldn’t it be nice if we could be like Superman and be unstoppable? You can! Make the decision today that nothing is going to stop you from getting whatever you want.
You can tackle those fears quickly by grabbing a journal when the moment arises. For this exercise, grab a journal and think about the things you haven’t gotten and want. Now write what it is you really want and then write down what fears are coming up.
Let’s use weight loss as an example for this exercise since I had a resistance on this for six years.
I want to lose weight, but can’t. Why? Because I have to eat less and workout. Why? Because I want to lose weight fast. Why? Because I want something overnight. Why? Because I am unhappy with my body and lacking in confidence.
How can I start being happy with my body and have confidence? I need to discipline myself. How? By making healthier choices in my foods and working out consistently. How do I do this? By taking action daily. What kind of action? By educating myself and hiring a coach. What will this do? It will teach me the daily discipline. The daily discipline for what? To eat healthy and workout. What will this do? Give me the body I’ve always wanted and start feeling confident af!
Do you see the work around on this? It just goes back in circles and really digging deep on the root. I wanted to lose weight and wanted it overnight, but the underlying problem was that I was unhappy with my body, lacking in confidence, and didn’t really know where to start.
