What made me turn?

entrepreneur life

Some people say entrepreneurs are born. Others say they are made. I think it’s a combination of both.

Life experiences probably are the key reason people become entrepreneurs.

I was always independent since I was an only child. I was always trying to figure out how to make money. I had a lot of time to think. I moved to the US when I was 6 and coming from an immigrant household, I saw what sacrifices my parents made. My mom worked a bazillion hours as nurse so I never saw her. I was always told to get good grades in school so I can be set up for an awesome career.

When you live in an Asian household, the only thing that matters is your grades because you’re destined to be an awesome employee. The way I was raised was to just be humble and stay quiet. It’s funny how I’ve always thought I was an introvert, but I really am not. If I take any personality test, I get extrovert all across the board. Ha! So you see, I’ve been living a lie all my life and was not really living my truth. It was just the way I was programmed.

And then came the time when I decided to change my major from nursing to graphic design in college. That was the first moment I spoke my truth. I didn’t even want to be a nurse! Just did it for my parents. Who was I kidding registering to be a nursing major when I was designing and creating since I was 12? Heck no I didn’t want to work a bazillion hours a week, only to come home to sleep. What would I do with all that money when I was working majority of the time? Heck no I didn’t want to not see family. I knew there was a better way to match lifestyle and a career together. I already saw how much my mom worked and there was no freaken way I was going to do that too for the rest of my freaken life. Hell to the no.

I graduated college when the market collapsed so I had to fend for myself and do some freelance work. I then landed a marketing and design job. My soul then started dying in the corporate world. It was when I got involved with fitness coaching that my life completely changed. I discovered that I really loved helping people with mindset and loved building an online business with it. Coaching really helped me grow. I knew that traveling and experiencing the world was important to me, that spending time with family was important to me, and living my life by my own terms was it for me. I knew I wanted to design a life and business that I was fiercely obsessed with. I figured out my purpose and now I help others design a life and business that they are fiercely obsessed with too.
